Hot chocolate and marshmallows

Hot chocolate and marshmallows is something I always look forward to in the colder months, and these little bombs are a fun twist on a family favourite.

These little treats are super fun and make for a great little edible gift for friends and family. You don’t need any special equipment, but a silicone mould is a must. I like using a generic silicone one from Amazon.

The most important step is making sure your shells aren’t too thin and flimsy. I use a teaspoon of chocolate for each dome and then let them set in a freezer for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Working quickly is key as the chocolate does tend to melt quite quickly. Wearing gloves definitely helps and it also ensures you don’t leave any smudges or fingerprints on the chocolate shells.

I wasn’t able to find any halal or vegan mini marshmallows in any of the shops near me so I ended up buying a pack of normal sized ones by sweetzone and cut them to size. After cutting them I then tossed them in icing sugar to prevent the pieces from sticking to each other.

For this recipe I am using a mixture of dark and milk chocolate for my shells, but if you prefer you can use just one type of chocolate. You can even change the filling depending on what you prefer, add a dash of cinnamon for extra warmth, or how about a drop of nutella for an even richer drink? Both options are absolutely delicious and work very well.

    1. These can keep for up to a week when stored in a cool and dry place, however I prefer to make them a day in advance.
