Chilli Garlic Prawns

Chilli garlic prawns have always been a go-to starter for me, whenever a menu offered them. This recipe is super easy and quick and tastes just as amazing as the ones in any restaurant.

This delicious starter only takes about fifteen minutes to make and can be served immediately. I like to serve it with some crusty bread or pita. I make mine in a cast-iron skillet, and I highly recommend it. Cast iron pans last longer than stainless steel ones and require less oil when cooking. They are heavier than most pans, but their versatility makes up for it. Cast iron skillets can go from the stove to the oven, and that means one less baking dish to wash up. Minimizing dirty dishes is always a plus for me.

These garlic prawns look great served straight off the heat either still in the skiller or in some beautiful terracotta dishes.

All you need for this recipe is some good quality olive oil, a whole load of fresh garlic, red chilies or chili flakes, smoked paprika, salt and pepper, fresh parsley, lime, and of course, prawns.

I much prefer using raw prawns for this. Make sure to devein them first and cook them until pink. If you are not comfortable using raw prawns, you can use cooked one and just toss them in the heated oil. If using frozen prawns, make sure to let them thaw completely before use. I love using prawns in recipes, they are so versatile and can elevate simple dishes such as risottos.

So easy to make, me and my wife love to make this on tapas night. We do add some extra chilli flakes as we like it spicy.
