This sunflower seed bread has become a staple in our house. It’s easy to make, ready in less than an hour and full of goodness.
With just a few ingredients this bread is full of goodness, and no nasties. The honey and sunflower seeds were gifted to me by Buy Whole Foods Online and they’re organic. I loved using their Raw Wild Flower Bulgarian Honey instead of sugar for this bread, as it has a distinctive flavour due to the wild and pollen rich flowers it’s made from. I find this flavour pairs perfectly with the mild taste of the organic sunflower seeds. Both honey and seeds come in very generous portions, perfect for families!

This bread is super easy to make, and you don’t need any special equipment for it. A bowl, a floured surface and an oven is all it takes. It’s important not to overwork this bread, or it will toughen up and become too dense to cook throughly. You should be working it for no more than 5 minutes.

Now that the weather has cooled down I cannot wait to enjoy a nice slice of this bread with some soup! I’m thinking it’s a great side for this roasted cauliflower cheese soup by Taste Of Homemade or the Tomato Orange soup by SpaBettie.
This recipes is for a small loaf, so if you need a bigger one you will need to double it. Or half it if you want to make individual loaves.

Easy Sunflower Seeds Bread
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup Water
- 1/2 tbsp Raw Honey
- 1/2 tbsp Fast Action Yeast
- 3 cups Plain Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/3 cup Sunflower Seeds
- 20 g Salted Butter
Instructions
- In a bowl mix the water, honey, salt and year. Stir and let it rest for about 5-10 minutes until you see bubbles forming on the water.
- Once the yeast and water mix is ready add in 2 cups of flour, the sunflower seeds and knead
- Work the mixture on a floured surface and keep adding flour until you have a dough that sticks more to itself than it does to your hand
- Form the dough into a loaf and set it on a sheet of floured baking paper, cover it and let it rest in a warm place for 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes it should have doubled in size, cut some slices on top of the loaf and brush it with the melted butter
- Preheat your oven to 200degrees while the bread is rising
- Bake it for 15 minutes or until golden and the bread makes a hollow sound when knocked on
- Let it cool on a cooling rack before cutting.
